Just because we all appear to wake up in the morning and get out of bed doesn't mean everyone is fully awake. You could simply be sleep walking i.e. going about your daily affairs while still fast asleep. While you're "asleep" you can't see all the Good that is everywhere present.
One of the reasons why I believe in the importance of praying (not in the religious sense) is because prayer helps me stay fully awake so I don't fall into sleep walking.
Before I went to do the grocery shopping I prayed.
When I'd finished getting what I wanted and headed for the checkout, I noticed there were long queues in checkouts 1 to 4 but checkout 5 only had one customer who was just leaving. I couldn't believe people queueing up couldn't see the empty checkout. That's what happens when you're sleep walking, you can't see what is right in front of your nose
I did and was out in no time.
I have also observed that when you're in the presence of someone who is awake, you can't help but stay awake too.
