Before I set off on my walk home, I put out an intention for cats and dogs to appear along the way. I find cats and dogs make my walk so enjoyable.
The first cat I spotted ran underneath a car as soon as I said hello. At least he had appeared along the way.
The second cat I saw was about to cross the road. He acknowledged me when I called out to him but he had better things to do than to stop and chat.
Just at that moment, I noticed a man and his dog across the road. The dog was pulling at the lead and her tail was wagging really fast.
I heard the man saying to the dog, "You can't go saying hello to everyone you see!"
But the dog was having none of it and pulling harder at the lead. It was then I realised the dog was excited to see me so I waved at them, which made the dog even more excited.
"Do you want to say hello?" the man said.
"Yes, I love dogs!"
As soon as they crossed over, the dog pounced on me. She was so affectionate. I shook her hand and told her it was lovely to see her.
"She must have sensed you were friendly," the man said.
"Yes, I think dogs can sense that," I stroked the dog's head. "And you're a Chocolate Labrador! I love Chocolate Labs!"
What a sweetheart! I hope I get to see her again soon.
At another street, I saw two dogs being chased by their human friend who wanted them to get back indoors. I thought it was hilarious!
Just before I arrived home, I saw another cat friend sitting outside his house. In the past I've said hello to him and even stroked him. This time, he wasn't in the mood to play.
Thank you, friends, for appearing in my play.
